This is a great time to resolve to be a new you. With tough economic times all around us, it might be the best time to start walking. If you don't have a treadmill, or nice weather outside, go to one of your local public facilities and walk. WalMart is a great place to walk. Some of your school facilities are open to the public to walk. Check out what your area has to offer, you might be surprised.
There is the mozy, fast walk, and power walk. The faster you walk, the more calories you burn. You need to work up to your goal. Don't expect yourself to be able to power walk 3 miles a day if you haven't walked in several years. Start with a mile and work up. Check with your physician to see if your goal is realistic and something recommended for you.
Getting started is the first step to a new you. A pedometer might be a good investment to just see if you are meeting a personal goal. I am told that 10,000 steps in a day equals 5 miles. So 2,000 steps would equal a mile. Happy Walking!
